As established by the Maastricht treaty in 1992, the euro money is the common currency of the member states of the European Union (The European Union is an association of twenty-seven independent states of the European Continent. It is situated between the Atlantic Ocean to the West, the Baltic sea to the North, the Mediterranean sea to the south, and has a land border with Belarus, the Ukraine and Turkey to the East).
The Euro is one of the predominant coins in the money exchange market. Its currency exchange rates are superior to those of the American Dollar (USD) and are only inferior to those of the Sterling Pound, currency of the United Kingdom (although the United Kingdom is a member state of the European Union, it has rejected the Euro as a currency).
Euro coins are similar in shape and size to American Dollar coins. On one side, they are inscribed with the value of the coin and 'European Union', as well as decorated with an European map. On the reverse side, each issuing country decorates its coins with a symbol representing that country. Coins issued by a certain country are accepted throughout the European Union.
The economical growth caused by the Euro has served to finance such projects as euro disney and the common television channel euro sport.
