According to dictionaries, the employment rate represents the percentage of people of working age with jobs. Now, how many of these jobs make them happy and able to lead a good life? Nobody really knows.
Every step of the way, from youth to our declining years, it seems that to find employment is an ongoing priority... either a first one, or a better one. Sadly, good employment opportunities don't grow on trees and some will search all their life for the one job they'd truly enjoy, preferably one with extended vacation time and over average employment insurance benefits.
To fulfill that dream many will turn to self employment, in the hope of doing at last something they love. Others will settle for part time employment, less money but more free time. Quite a few will never find what they seek, and will keep calling employment agencies and checking employment websites in the hope of finding the job of their dream. Probably a lost cause... considering the latest employment statistics, or rather the increasing unemployment rate, we're lucky if we find any job at all.
Perhaps we've become too demanding... perhaps it's not so much the job that matters, but the heart we put in it.
