The old ways of sending cards through the postal system are slowly fading. People now like to send ecards for all sorts of reasons, and many of them have no fee. Friendship ecards are not only fun to receive but also to send, and some say the more, the merrier. Free romantic ecards are sent to people that share a mutual love, or those we wish we had a mutual love with. There are a lot of free animated ecards sent around the internet, many of them sent as jokes or just to say hello to someone we appreciate. Free greeting ecards are sent to celebrate a special holiday or other occasions. One can not forget the free anniversary ecards that are sent to family, friends and even colleagues from work just to tell them we are thinking about them on this special day. Like a free love ecards for your significant other. Finally, get well soon ecards are sent to people who are sick.

I'm the creative director at Plaxo and we've had some success working with artists to sell and promote their work. For example, we partnered with The Ferret Company (www.ferretcompany.com/store.html) last year.
We turned Jeanne Carley's ferret photography into eCards and distributed them via eCards at Plaxo during November and December.
Embedded in each cards was a link to the store on her website where people could buy her calendars. Artists retain all rights to their work. We don't charge for this, but we don't pay either. It's designed to be a win-win deal. We get fresh art in eCards and artists can promote their work.
I've added some of my own artwork to promote my illustrated book, 'Kanji Pictographix'.
If you're interested, drop me a line.

Love that there's a category of blogging cards at Hipstercards.
