Keeping It Healthy
The ear is an amazing part of the body. Without is we would be submerged into a world void of all sound. It is important to take great care of it to keep it healthy. This includes properly cleaning it out on a regular basis and avoiding anything that could cause infections.
Common Ear Problems
Almost everyone has had an ear infection at one point in their lives. Most can remember the excruciating pain that associated with it. There are several types of infections. There is otitis media which is an infection of the middle ear. Mastoiditis is an infection of the bone behind the ear. One of the most common types is commonly called swimmers ear. Another type of ear problem is odd shaped or misplaced ears, such as bunny ears. These are more physical problems but can be fixed. The procedure used is called ear pinning otherwise known as otoplasty.
Symptoms of Ear Infection
There are different symptoms for infant ear infections and ear infections in adults. The symptoms for infants are irritability, difficulty sleeping, tugging or pulling at the ear(s), fever, draining of fluid, loss of balance, and signs of difficulty in hearing. The symptoms for adults are fever, ear ache, ear pain, hearing loss, feeling like something is in the ear, dizziness, and an itchy inner ear. Ear piercing can cause an infection also. It is important to clean the affected area after any ear piercing to avoid any type of infection.
