One of my pastimes is renting old movies, often black & whites, although they are getting harder & harder to locate. A little while back I rented "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" starring Esther Williams! And it was GREAT! I don't think there are lot of people that may remember the movie, but growing up the 1950's, these movies were already considered old. But they remain Classics!
Esther Williams was born in Los Angeles, California, August 8, 1921. She broke the world record of the 880 yard relay & the 100 meter freestyle. She was an accomplished swimmer.
Some of the films that she performed in are:
Andy Hardy's Double Life, Bathing Beauty, Thrill of a Romance, This Time For Keeps, On An Island With You, Take Me Out To The Ball Game, Neptune's Daughter, Duchess Of Idaho, Pagan Love Song, & Skirts Ahoy!
I can still remember all of the Esther Williams signs there were on the swimming pools in the area. An Esther Williams Swimming Pool was supposed to be the best!
It's becoming harder & harder to find films featuring this great Super Star of the 1940's. Sometimes at a garage sale or a local flea market I an get lucky! It's always a special treat to find some memories of this great star, Esther Williams!
