Marshall Mathers III, a.k.a. Slim Shady, a.k.a. Eminem, is set to release his sixth studio album entitled “Relapse”. There have been many rumours circulating since 2007 about the possibility of him releasing a new album but until recently all was unconfirmed. Back in May 2007, artist “Cashis” stated that Eminem would be soon releasing a new album entitled King Marshall. To add to the confusion, in 2008 “Sha Money” said the album would be called “Empack”. Cashis next stepped in to say it was to actually be called “Empact” and not “Empack”. Both rumors proved to be false. Speculations on the part of rappers 50 Cent, Stat Quo, and Bizarre (from D12) were also peppered here and there during 2007.
Overanxious fans and artists in Eminem’s entourage (most likely in an attempt to get their names in headlines and to ride Em’s coattails, an occurance thas has been among those in his entourage…) have caused a lot of buzz. Like most artists, Eminem has spent time in the studios and working on new material. At what point does the process become considered “working a new album” is debatable.
Eminem finally set the record straight on November 16th, 2008 at an event to celebrate the release of his autobiography entitled “The Way I Am” by confirming that he was indeed finishing up an album that would be entitled “Relapse”. He mentioned it would be released during the first quarter of 2009.It will be an Aftermath & Interscope release and will be produced by Dr. Dre. Those who have heard some of the tracks have said that the style resembles Eminem’s earlier releases. There may be guest artists such as Dr. Dre, T.I., and 50 Cent. One of the tracks may be called “Cracked Bottle” but is unconfirmed at this point. Fans anxiously await the long anticipated release.
