Going to Lasalle College and working in restaurants practically all my life, has taught me that having the right equipment and cookware will make or brake your business, or your pocket.
You will never see a restaurant using nonstick cookware, so why should you. Stainless steel cookware is the only thing you will see a restaurant ever use. Yes, nonstick is cheaper but so is the life expectancy of the cookware also. Stainless cookware sets do cost a lot more, but you will never throw that cookware away, EVER! It is for life. Crock pots should not be purchased in stainless steel because they use high temperatures at a very long time and can eventually warp with time. Purchase a thick ceramic crock pot and you will be fine.
To ensure a long life with your stainless steel cookware, please follow the instructions given to you by the company. Always use the proper cleaners and never ever use harsh abrasives that can damage the surface of the equipment. Always use stainless steel cleaners, store in the proper areas and not where they can fall and get damaged and most of all always try to use wooden ustensils when cooking.
