Do you dread that job of cooking turkey? Especailly when it comes to holidays, many of us look forward to eating the turkey, but not to cooking it! So, is there a way to make cooking turkey not so dreadful? Yes there is! The key is to be prepared as well as organized. The first thing to do is to figure out how much time you have before you will be serving the turkey. Why is this important? This is important because it effects the cooking time for the turkey. You need to make sure that you allow the turkey to cook well.
You can cook your turkey from either the frozen state or the thawed state. It is really up to you. However, if you let the turkey thaw out a little, it will take some time off of when you are cooking it. How do you know when the turkey is done? Though the amount of time is a large part of making sure the turkey is done, you cannot only depend on how long it has been in there. Why is that? That is because not every turkey is the same. So how can you tell if it is done? The best way to tell is by sticking a thermometer in it! This is because when a turkey is done it should be a certain temperature.
Does the type or size of the turkey depend on how long it should cook? The type of turkey does not. You could have a frozen turkey from the store or a wild one and it would not matter. The size however, can matter. The bigger the turkey the longer that it should cook.
