In the United States, even though it is still warm, it is quickly approaching the fall where football starts and school begins. As it gets colder in certain regions of the United States, many people will be changing their diets to include chili! As a child, I remember that we start eating chili right when it started getting cold outside and would look forward to eating it with my family. Chili is a really a spicy stew that’s made with meat, chili peppers and onions. Everything that you add after that, makes it your signature chili. The homemade chili recipe that I use is one that I created and have used for the last twenty years.

With the advent of vegetarians or vegans and those who don’t use beef, there has come the chicken chili and the vegetarian chili. Recipes for both of these chili’s is not hard to find and they are actually pretty tasty. The Barefoot Contessa has a chicken chili recipe on www.foodnetwork.com that is easy to prepare. It includes cayenne pepper and basil leaves. Emeril Lagasse has a very easy vegetarian chili recipe that takes only thirty minutes to make and is very tasty. It includes Serrano peppers and zucchini. This easy chili recipe is also available on the Food Network website.

Chili con carne or chili with meat is the way that many people eat their chili. Usually prepared with ground beef, you can add as much or as little of other ingredients as you wish. Easy chili recipes will usually only add additional seasoning items along with the meat, onions and peppers. Depending on how hearty you like your chili to be, you can add mushrooms, carrots and peeled tomatoes.

For award winning chili recipes, you can check out www.online-cookbook.com. They offer up some of the best and easiest chili recipes. With serving suggestions that include adding fresh grated cheese on top, some the recipes can be added to or subtracted from depending on your tastes. Some recipes require you to fix it and leave it in the fridge overnight for better flavor.

The best chili recipes obviously come from family and friends who share them and pass them along. But if you don’t have a chili recipe, there are plenty to choose from and you will be surprised at how easy they are to make. Enjoy!
