Can you remember who your favorite childhood character was?
Who was your favorite character in your favorite movie or book? How about your favorite cartoon character? Do you remember the star wars characters, especially R2D2? It's funny how these characters tend to play some sort of role in the shaping of our own character, and how they can remain in our minds for so long.
today a favorite childrens book character is Harry Potter. I wonder how having Harry Potter as a role model will affect the children of today. It seems that Harry Potter would be a good role model for children. But how about the cartoon character of sponge bob? Do the people that do character design realize how important these characters are to children and how much they influence their lives? It's sort of like character education for children!
I think we as a society should take more precautions when teaching our children or when showing them book characters or characters from the movie we may choose, because children do not really understand the difference between reality and non reality on tv, and in books. Therefore we should make sure that only positive role models influence their lives.
