What comes to your mind when you think of buying hockey equipment? It has to be CCM of course. CCM incidentally stands for Canada Cycle & Motor Co. It is a brand that relates to sporting goods. The CCM trademark is currently owned by two separate entities. The first entity is the Ice Hockey Company which is now a subsidiary of Reebok. It primarily deals with the manufacture of equipment and accessories for ice hockey. The second entity, CCM, deals with bicycles manufacturing. The origins of CCM can be tracked back to 1899. That was the time when the bicycle market was in a state of collapse. This resulted in the foundation of CCM by amalgamating the operations of 4 major bicycle companies. The companies that were involved in the amalgamation were Goold, Massey-Harris, Welland Vale Manufacturing and H. A. Lozier.
Around the 1900s, the company started diversifying into the manufacture of hockey equipment as a result of saturation in the bicycle market. One of its products was hockey skates. It also successfully acquired other brands and companies such as Tackaberry (Tacks), Koho and Jofa. It then became The Hockey Company. 2004 was a landmark year for the company when CCM was bought by Reebok. Reebok is a subsidiary of Adidas.
CCM manufactures several hockey products that are quite popular and well accepted by the sporting community. These include among others CCM vector goalie pads, CCM hockey skates, CCM vector hockey stick, CCM skate, CCM hockey jerseys, CCM hockey gloves and CCM roller hockey.
