The James Cancer Hospital under the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center is a part of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network. It is named after Arthur G. James, the founder who desired to have a cancer hospital in Columbus, Ohio. The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute conducts treatments for cancer, conducts research in the Solove Research Institute. Built in 1984, the James Cancer Hospital is the adult patient care portion of the Ohio State Cancer Center.
The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center was founded in 1884 as the New York Cancer Hospital. It is a cancer treatment and research institution. Memorial Hospital for Cancer and Allied Diseases provides patient care and uses the medical laboratory established on the campus of Cornell Medical Center which is funded by John D. Rockefeller. The Ontario Cancer Institute is Canada’s first dedicated cancer hospital. It was officially opened in 1958 and was at one time renamed the Princess Margaret Hospital. The Ontario Cancer Institute’s hospital and cancer research center devote their efforts to analyzing cancerous cells at the molecular level while testing gene and cellular therapies for cancer and other diseases.
The Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre is a cancer treatment hospital in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Opened in September 2008, Abbotsford has collaborated with GE Healthcare Technologies to provide advanced capabilities in diagnosing and treating cancer. GE Healthcare helped to link the hospitals needs with the technology for patients needs. Their primary focus is on early diagnosis, intervention and prevention of disease.
The University Hospital Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio works in conjunction with Case Western Reserve University. While there are no specific breast cancer hospitals, although the Susan G. Komen Foundation is dedicated to prevention, treatment and cure for breast cancer. They offer research and grant money to fellows and medical clinicians that are interested in the study of breast cancer. A powerful advocate for women with the disease, the Susan G. Komen Foundation has collaborated with several corporations and agencies around the world to help stop this deadly disease. There are no dedicated breast cancer hospitals but any top cancer hospital looks after breast cancer too.
The U.S. News & World Report has listed as the top five best cancer hospitals as the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
