Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer found in women in Canada. This is why the prevention of breast cancer is important.
Risk factors for breat cancer include a family history of breast cancer, age, not having given birth to a child, first menstrual period at an early age and an history of benign breast disease. There even exist tools on the Internet to help you calculate your breast cancer risk.
October is known to be the breast cancer awareness month. During that month, the importance of early detection through annual mammography screening is emphasized. The National Breast Cancer Awareness Month program consists in special activities designed to inform as many women as possible about breast cancer awarness.
The pink ribbon is the official symbol for the breast cancer awareness.
A famous foundation is the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. It was founded in 1982 and its headquarters are in Dallas, Texas. It is dedicated to educate people and to do research to find a cure for breast cancer. It is possible to make donations through the official website.

I recently began working at a local home improvement store (my first experience working retail). There was a two day orientation class and 25 hours of online training. Not knowing I would be on a regular schedule so quickly, I didn’t ask to take tomorrow off for the race until last week - well I guess that is not enough time for them to find a replacement for me for tomorrow so I could run in the Y-ME 5k tomorrow. Plus, its Mother’s Day so many of the other cashiers had plans. What I am trying to say is that I cannot participate in the run tomorrow because I am working 8:00am-5:00pm.
I feel terrible about it but you can be assured that your donations will still go to the same fund whether I am there or not. Thank you again for your support!
