Board games were part of my childhood. When growing up, a few decades ago, we did not have the computers or even a game system so actual board games for kids was all there was to play. Although they still sell the classic board games at any toy store I wondered who bought them and even more who played them. So I asked around thinking there would at least be a Monopoly board game in every home still.
Startling I found that a great deal of families still play the vintage board games that I grew up with right along with all the twists on the monopoly board game like Fishopoly or the Harley Davidson edition monopoly board games and other versions of Monopoly. They are eons away from the old family board games that I remember.
It was also a shock to me to find that a lot of the classic board games have been adapted to online board games such as Life and Clue. While searching online for what other games I may know I spotted all the word games that are older than even I and twists to them as well to bring them into the new times.
Talking to friends with kids I found that the limit the amount of time they can watch television and even how long they can play on the many game systems they have, but none of these parents limit how much time they can play on their free board games online. They even choose to play one or more board game on the family game night. So in short I guess that the original maker of those vintage board games should be proud that even through all these many years they are still bringing families together.
