Most of the time, we don't really think of using black and white photos. Most of the people think it is only used for making the pictures look old but that's not the case. An advantage most of us don't know about is that a black and white photo doesn't show any defect on a portrait. If you have the chance to compare black and white posters to color posters, a portrait of a celebrity for example, it shows a better skin and any little imperfections that would show on a color photo won't show on the black and white one. Ok we are not celebrities and don't have the budget for make up and hair dresser only for a picture, and that's the great thing about black and white photographs. We can do it by ourself and no need to retouch the picture. Regular black and white photography would mean to buy a black and white film, when usually you don't want all you pictures to be in black and white most of the time, except if you are studying in that domain but that's another thing. On the other hand, black and white digital photography allows you to do watever you want. You can change the settings of your camera for only one picture if you want and go back to color for the other ones. That's what i like of digital photography. And you may ask what happens when i order my prints? They will develop your black and white prints for the same price of your color prints, there is no difference, compared of developing a black and white standard film that only some places do now.
So take my advise and try it a few times to see the results. even better, try taking a color one and the same with black and white, you'll see the difference.
