I don't really know who first came up with the idea of the bay window, but I'd bet it originated in a Northern land. It's easy for those dwelling under warm climates to leave everything open and enjoy. For Northerners though, that cozy bay window seat is about the only way to take advantage of the outside, inside, any time of year. And when one gets tired of watching the snowfall, one only needs to draw the bay window curtain to keep the cold out of sight.
It probably explains why few houses in Northern areas come without a bay window installation . In truth, the bay window is like having our own theater at home, and the bay window coverings is our mean to decide if we want to enjoy the winter spectacular outside, or forget about it entirely.
Still, few Northerners would move away from their realm of ice and snow. Instead they've found ways to soften it.. the beautiful bay window among them. People of the North have turned bay window treatment into a form of art. From colorful blinds, horizontal or vertical, to luscious bay window curtains , an explosion of creativity to enhance our homes in winter wonderland, while providing the perfect frame for the vista beyond... and what a vista it is.
