I remember there was a time when we got out of school, went home had dinner and watched T.V. and that were about the end of our daily activities.
Now, kids have so many things to do, they lose track of time and don't even have time to exercise or play fun games outdoors. There are pc games, video games, yahoo games, online coloring pages, free online games and the list goes on and on.
The computer has been an astounding addition to our homes but when do we say enough is enough. Even now! the download of games is another reality, so the question is how do we get kids off the computer games and make them want to find other things to do.
There are a couple of things that as parents we have invented. Weekend camping trips; where we make a point of having our children outdoors and letting them experience outdoors activities. Used to be we couldn't get them to come indoors and now we have to create outdoor experiences. We have family fun games night; a night we invented to get the family to spend more time together. It really makes me wonder at times if the computer was and is such a great addition to our house or not. But then again, I would be totally lost without it. How would I do my research or create my lesson plans. So I guess we will have to continue to create things like outdoor camping trips or family game night to get our kids to have other life experiences that are non-computer related.
