When I look back and think about how far society has evolved in its academics works since the invention of the computer I am truly grateful. I remember when we used to talk about academic we referred to high school and University and the classes we took there. It was a pretty simple affair. You took a class you got a grade and it was averaged into your GPA. Recently I’ve noticed that it’s not so easy in today’s world. There are alot of outside projects, Internet classes, and points awarded for experience in other areas.
Today most kids have their own home page, and have all kinds of academic software to help them study in an entertaining way and thereby get higher scores. I remember, When I was taking courses at the university of michigan and trying to decide between two fields of study, that of political science or computer science. At the time computer science was a fairly new career and I opted for it because of its newness. It was a simplified version of the computer science field we have today, but I truly don’t know what I would have done had I not cosen that field. Just last night as I was surfing the net and viewing the winners of the academy awards for 2006 I realized how truly glad I am that I chose computer science otherwise I would be completely lost in the computer arena as so many of my colleagues are today.
